FROM NECESSITY TO PRODUCT: OPTICAL MEASURING MACHINES BORN IN WORKSHOP FOR WORKSHOP
DI QUATTRO was established in 1980 as a precision mechanics workshop for the production and manufacturing of mechanical components. Throughout the years, DI QUATTRO has been specializing in the supply of mechanical groups and assembled systems, becoming an all-round partner for the design, realization and test of automatic machines and mechanical components in subcontracting.
Despite the ongoing evolution and gradual specialization, DI QUATTRO has remained loyal to its roots in the mechanical sector, strengthening its origins through continuous studies and investments in its own internal workshop.
The metrology role in the company
Among the main activities relating to precision mechanics (turning, milling, welding, EDM), metrology plays, without any doubts, a primary role in the company.
Excellent measurement and consequent reduction of “measurement uncertainty” level means:
- Measurement precision and repeatability
- Reliable results
- Better quality of final product, aiming at zero defects goal
- Added value for the customer when receiving a compliant part (free pass), leading to internal costs reduction
Results from measurement and test instruments represent an essential aspect for the company and must be maintained during the time on the same unvaried excellence grade: an incorrect measurement leads to faulty products and consequent damage for the company, affecting its brand image and causing waste of time, resources and money.
From necessity to product
Given the high market demand, DI QUATTRO has felt the need to pay great attention to these aspects, reducing incorrect tests’ risks and productive inefficiencies.
The result has been obtained by producing in its facilities what it has been difficult to find outside. DI QUATTRO measurement machines originates in a Workshop for Workshop’ necessities, including studies, investments and adjustments of its own operating instruments, and introducing the new concept of measurement machine “in the field”.
Field checks, meaning close to the machine and not only in the metrology room, ensure:
- Reduction of non-compliance costs
- Reduction of time spent in the final test phase
- Possibility to check the mechanical part step by step, diluting time for test during the whole manufacturing process
Increasing field checks and simplifying them at the same time, also means reducing test involvement during process checks made by the operator, lowering costs and downtimes.
Finally, manual checks may be source of risk: should it be perfomed by an operator, human failure may undermine production efforts.
From now on, DI QUATTRO enters the market with a new vision: introducing an innovating product, arisen from a real and tangible need, by combining its established experience in the design and mechanical field and its knowledge in the metrology sector.
In order to improve its own measurement instruments and methods, DI QUATTRO has gradually integrated into its mechanics and mechatronics expertise, new resources in information, optics and artificial vision technologies.
The result is a widespread know-how in the metrology field, allowing DI QUATTRO to design and develop contactless measuring systems, which apply state-of-the art technology solutions.
Thanks to its own capabilities and experience in the field, DI QUATTRO is now ready to face a wider target, made by small and big mechanical workshops, integrators, automation societies and trade intermediaries who look for measurement products and technologies designed to be used in a production field.
HOFME Series represent the DI QUATTRO challenge in bringing its own experience to the contactless metrology market and offering a sturdy, simply to use but extremely accurate product.
Measurement machines HOFME are conceived to be used in mechanical workshops, next to machine tools, in molding departments, in electronics production lines and in the production of high-precision components.
